MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED; First published 9:33 a.m.) — The death toll in a rubber slipper factory fire in Valenzula City climbed to 72 on Thursday, a fire official said.

now you know what happened to flip flops if you suddenly feel their long absence. That was a sad thing for the families though. and to think those guys were never paid fairly in their wages or given their rightful benefits.

Workers inside the building ran up the second floor of the factory, trapping most of them. Authorities believed that the victims died of suffocation due to the thick black smoke. 26 still missing.  huge tragedy.
