Re: Faces of Life and Death

Photography by Walter Schels. Different people, different stories, different afflictions, all the same in death.

Re: Faces of Life and Death

Great post.

It doesn't happen with every one but I've noticed some people, when they die, their faces seem to relax, like all the stress of life is just gone and they look relieved or something.

Re: Faces of Life and Death

I remember the very first dead person I seen in a coffin.. I just got the impression it was shell left behind.. Held my dad's hand as he passed away in hospital, went back into say goodbye before going home, struck me even more so, it did not seem like him lying their... Soul left his body, life after death.... Thats another thread altogether

Generally, muscles relax after death (until rigor mortis sets in), so that may account for the "relaxed face" appearance.

Re: Faces of Life and Death

It was the same think for my youngest son after his death: I had post a photograph of him just before his death in the section titled ("men caskets / coffins"), and after he passed away (he was master corporal / MP's soldier).
Thanks for these images.

I wasn't aware it was being preserved.
