Re: Eye-popping Experience With a Machinegun in Iraq
Because maybe you were invading a country you didn't belong in and they felt the need to protect their families? Put the shoe on the other foot. If Iraq invaded the USA for a bullshit motive would you arm yourself? I'm not from the USA and I appreciate your service, I'm just dipping into another prospective.

He answered in the third post or so. No explosives. Just some weapons. The rest was only raving assumptions like "they were trying to ram our post" and such. But he felt pretty much proud of what they did. In one word, 'murica. |

Over there it's either them or you. I'm glad to see it was them. Nice job soldier and thank you for your service. Hope all is well. I've been to that stinking cat box myself 5 times. Every time I tried telling my superiors I hadn't left anything over there after my first trip they kept sending me back. |

Re: Eye-popping Experience With a Machinegun in Iraq
Just a couple of notes; there are obvious things to look for in a VBIED, eg visible body alterations to the vehicle, whether or not the chasis look waited down etc. A good soldier without the intention to murder will look for the signs with a powerful scope which most soldiers at such checkpoints should have in their M240 B or whatever individual or crew served weapon they carry.Secondly, its their f..king country!Police or National Guards in America or other civilised countries dont just open fire at a speeding vehicle even in a high speed chase with the chase vehicle speeding through choke point. As much i want to herald this post, it should not be here and be glorified.

Weighted down i mean to write; cause VBIED includes in addition to the explosive charge component like C-4,other things usually mettalic for projectiles. These will drastically alter the weight of the vehicle been used and a discerning eye with a powerful scope should see this before engaging.
