Re: Egyptian Man Killed by People in Street [Lebanon]
For those who don't open external links.. Lebanese villagers gather near the body of Egyptian Mohammed Msallem after he was stabbed to death and hung on a pole in Ketermaya village in the central Chouf mountains, Lebanon, Thursday, April 29, 2010. Security officials say angry Lebanese villagers have stabbed to death an Egyptian man and hung his body on a pole over his alleged murder of four people from the same family. Msallem had been arrested a day earlier on suspicion of shooting two children aged 7 and 9 and their two elderly grandparents. The prime suspect in a gruesome quadruple murder in Lebanon was lynched by an angry mob on Thursday as he was being driven by a police escort to re-enact his crime. Several hundred residents of the southeastern town of Ketermaya, located some 25 kilometres (15 miles) from the capital Beirut, dragged the suspect, identified as Mohammed Muslem, out of a police car and beat him to death as officers watched helplessly, a security official told AFP. Muslem, 38, was the prime suspect in the murder of an elderly couple and their two granddaughters, aged 7 and 9, who were found stabbed to death in their home on Wednesday, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "The town folk apparently knew that he was being taken back to the scene of the crime and were waiting for him," he said. "They pulled him out of the police car, beat him to death and then hung him on an electricity pole. "The officers escorting him couldn't save him." The official said Muslem, an Egyptian citizen, was already wanted in Ketermaya for the rape of a 13-year-old girl about two months ago. |
