Re: Duterte's Wrath
So, are we really that naive in thinking that you can win the war on drugs by killing the dealers (not debating that they are all dealers or corruption)? There is too much money to be made in the drug trade for people to not take the risk and replace those murdered. The neighborhoods that are safer now, likely have more police presence than before and this is the true reason for the changes. Don't get me wrong, I am not excusing the actions of the drug dealers; however, I don't see this doing anything but raising a generation of fatherless children who hate their own government. Granted, drugs destroy lives...but the root cause is those who feel that is the solution to their problems. It has been said on here before, but alcohol does the same thing...so is Duerte going to start blowing up the liquor stores next? This type of behavior is similar to the ISIS Caliphate who stone women for talking or driving. If you remove due process and combine the judge/jury/executioner, then eventually you cease to be a democracy and that is exactly where Duerte is taking the Phillipines.

Re: Duterte's Wrath
Im not in favor of the current method sweeping our country but there are very few choices. Corrupt government all around. Lawyers and law enforcers. All using the fine prints of the laws to justify themselves and abuse their authority to the limits. Not really much choice there. I can tell you this, only 1% or less of those tried for drug related crimes really went to jail for the same case. And if they do, in less than a year, theyre out of jail using other pretense such as state witness, etc etc to a case that takes forever to understand, much more to solve. In the meantime, the crooks turned witness enjoys free life and doing more crimes again. So lets just do the math in general principles. ...Easy money in drugs so many chose that avenue. Well, they know the consequences and they made their choice. ...creating fatherless children who hates the government. Hmmm.... A dealer have more or less hundred clients who soon become fatherless too or father becoming so uselessly addictd, being fatherless becomes a better option. And add the other children who become fatherless when these addicts does crimes for their habit. These children becomes government haters too when cases goes unsolved. Jobless addicts here dont have welfare or government monetary assistance they can use for drugs. They have to do unspeakable acts here to get money for their habit. Thats one of the big difference here and in first world countries. Simple addicts there can minimize their intake by depending on such. Here, no free money. You want it, go get it anyway you can. |
