Dutchman 28-Years-Old Riding a Motorbike Gets Sick and Dies in Cambodia

On February 25, 2018 a 28 year old Dutchman died in Siem Reap’s Kralanh district when he was riding a motorbike with a group of friends from Siem Reap to Banteay Meanchey province. The victim started feeling ill and vomited, then died.

The victim arrived in Cambodia on February 23, 2018 at the port of Siem Reap with six members. He was staying at The Joke Hotel in Room 206. After his death, the victim was taken to a local hospital to be claimed by his family. The victim worked as a professional videographer.

Re: Dutchman 28-Years-Old Riding a Motorbike Gets Sick and Dies in Cambodia

Thanks for the correction, I just translated the article. I should have done the math. I have a question, I thought the policy here on DR is to not post names of victims? I have been blacking out the names of all of my submissions. Do I not have to do this?

I have asked about this too but I'm still not 100%. I know that if it's in the national news then printing the full name is fine. If it's just a local news item then the full name isn't supposed to put it in.

When it's a foreign news article, I personally haven't got a clue if it's national news or just local so I just post the full name. If the admins deem it against the rules, they will just amend your post so only the first name appears.

I have been previously been advised not to give the names etc of the dead from Europe, North American and Australasia as Chris/the site may have problems with loved ones complaining/suing. Even if these are printed in foreign news sites or sources. I'd censor or delete the details you have published here. If you want clarification a mod, or Chris will back this advice up, I'm sure. I'll IM this to you too.

correct as i remember a few cases where not only family but also a government caused issues here so we had to dump threads like the British Couple Murdered in Thailand where their names were used in the thread. To prevent any issues i hardly use any full names of victims or but sometimes i write their first name only. It's not like our members will remember spanish, thai or whatever full names used in here rather than the actual pics and/or story

Thanks Kelly for clarifying. I'll start using their first names only and keep blacking out their passport pictures.

That's what the article says. One of the few words in English.

That's so fucked up... one moment you're enjoying the privilege of seeing the world... next thing you know a disease renders you dead... I wonder what disease got him...
