How do you figure that from missing flip flops? Staged? For crying out loud,Hollywood couldn't do a better job at staging this if they tried. Yes he probably wore flipflops ,but maybe he just didnt put them on that day? Maybe I am missing something?

look carefully, the dude was allegedly wearing a pair of tennis shoes (one of which is apparently missing)
BUT
on his right foot you can clearly see flip flops tan lines :
