Thank you. Painkillers (especially Oxycontin) are actually harder to quit than heroin. The withdrawal is immensely hard on the body and even worse on the mind. I'm sorry to hear about your boyfriend. I was forced clean by the state, that wasn't a choice, but I stayed clean once I got out through the 'medicinal' use of marijuana. As I don't live in a medical state, you could call it self medicating, however it is not with out evidence to back it. THC uses the opioid receptors in the brain so it helps a lot to kill the craving. I don't know how well it would work for synthetic or semi-synthetic opiates but... who knows. When it comes to heroin though I take a hint from Malcom X and say 'by whatever means necessary!'

WOW- THANK YOU SO MUCH. Exactly my point and you summarized it great. My bf WAS hooked like a fish by Oxycontin, 80mgs! Pot helps A LOT, especially with withdrawls  Worst part is the psychological after-effects of using Oxycontin: severe dysphoria, all his "feel good" receptors in his brain kind of shut-off and are out-of-whack because of all the euphoria the oxycodone produced Besides having a flu x 1000, it IS harder to come off than good ol' heroin and withdrawls are brutal-to sum it off, it's like "Every bone in my body hurts, my skin is so sensitive it's crawling, restless leg syndrome- magnified a 100 fold, and to top off this shitcake of a feeling, I'm shitting my guts out" *I'm on warm milk and laxatives, cherry-flavored antacids. I sit and drink Pennyroyal Tea*<--Sound from familiar? |

'Distill the life that's inside of me' What kind of junkie would I be if I didn't recognize that. Kicking is a bitch, almost a fate worse than death. Painful, awful and generally unpleasant for all parties involved. At least your bf isn't kicking behind bars. I didn't even have a toilet in my cell. And you can forget methadone, I was 16 and they wouldn't give it to me since it would have been paid for by the state and the state is CHEAP. In retrospect I wouldn't want methadone anyway. It's just replacing one addiction with another. Just be there for him. Honestly the rest is up to him. |

LOL YEAH  He hasn't shot up in over 5 years. He's still trying to ditch the oxycodone and is doing pretty good Weird how heroin IS CHEAPER than Oxycontin- up to $80 per pill  I call bullshit on that I definitely keep it green :)

Yes, my bf has been through his troubles with the law/rehab, not for heroin but for painkillers, which is very big here now
