Unfortunately, Gypsy's boyfriend was also a victim. He was very autistic but highly functioning. Even though I felt sorry for her ,once she realized what her Mom had been doing, Gypsy completely manipulated that poor boy who had never even been away from home into killing her mother.

The 8-part television series 'The Act', which was produced by Hulu in 2019, was actually a very fascinating telling of this entire sordid tale. They took some dramatic license, but hit most of the requisite points of the case. I believe Patricia Arquette received an Emmy win for her portrayal of DeeDee Blanchard.
