I read a book by an explorer whose been up there a few times aswell as other places just as dangerous and he says you do come across bodies here and there, most are left behind cuz they were either lost in a fall or was just too life threatening to other people to try bring a body back down to the bottom.

Because when they actually -do- make it to the top it's like 'hellll yeah boi' Just shows you the lengths people will go to to climb the mountain. There are over 150 bodies still on Everest too, typically when someone dies there they just leave them, as it's too impractical to stop and take them back down, or get a helicopter in. |

If you die up there they just leave the body were it is. 3rd picture: The petrified, frozen remains of climber George Leigh Mallory lie on a slope of Mount Everest. On Mt. Everest, there is an area called the "death zone." It's above the 26,000 ft mark. One needs to have almost constant oxygen at that point. Ironically, most of the deaths that occur on Everest happen on the descent. By the way, Janet291, I heard dying up on Everest is extreme agony, 'cause you don't die right away. If you're lucky, you'll asphyxiate in the death zone. But even then, becuase there is some oxygen, it'll be like dying from a slow strangulation. A horrific death, indeed. You're better off jumping head-first off the summit. Just the facts.  |
