Something more is going on here that we haven't figured out. Killers don't politely return the uniform and gun of their victim to his brother! Either there is a translation problem or something much more to this story.

Thinking the same. How would the criminals even know they were brothers? And he saw the car rush by with the trunk open. He didn't find that to be overly suspicious and try to do anything in the half hour that passed before they brought the brother's belongings?

He didn't get dragged very far, by the looks of the damage (minimal) for being dragged along that asphalt! Someone must have caught the horse fairly quickly, I've seen pics of people who have been dragged, they've lost meat down to the bones.
