I've just gone back through some of the many articles that I found on this + a lot of them refer to both of the deceased as 'Ms' before their names, so I'm assuming that yes, they're both females. One of the articles state 'the case of a tomboy'. Here's a screenshot from one the videos I posted. Maybe someone here knows Thai + can see if it states gender on there.
