Ruthmary Carolina Carroz Ferrer, 42, was shot dead near Plaza Cisneros in Puerto Colombia, Atlantico, Colombia, on May 4, 2022. The Venezuelan mother of four sold black coffee and fried snacks from a street cart and was moving the cart into position at about 6:20 to 6:30 a.m. when two men arrived on a motorcycle. The passenger dismounted and shot her in the head at close range. She died at the scene.

Accounts differ on whether one or three shots were fired, but only one gunshot wound to the head was consistently recorded. Investigators said the motorcycle driver also dismounted and filmed the killing with a cellphone, and video later became key evidence in the investigation. Authorities publicly described the attack as a contract killing but did not establish a motive. No arrest or conviction was reported.
