back in 1998 one of my school mates went on a trip from hong kong (where i lived at the time) to china on one of these coach trtips, and the whole coach got detained and put into jail cells for about 6 months, including my buddy and his mother. the chinese government gave the reason that they were part of that one group (i forget the name) which was always praying and doing tai chi and so forth. but the chinese government for some reason outlawed and banned this peaceful group and would randomly detain people, including this tourist group from hong kong. |
