Carmen Benitez Martinez Dies in Motorcycle-Truck Crash, Higuey-Miches, 2024
A motorcycle crash on the highway linking Higuey and Miches in the eastern Dominican Republic killed Carmen Benitez Martinez, 27, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. The motorcycle she was riding struck a truck close to the La Sabana de Nisibon bridge. She died instantly, and press reported that her head was caught in the truck's front section. Benitez Martinez was a resident of La Sabana de Nisibon and was described as popular within the community. For the investigation, the truck driver surrendered to authorities. Personnel from 911, traffic agents, the National Police and the forensic examiner went to the location. Press reports did not establish what caused the collision.     |

Scratching my head with this one. I'm guessing they drive on the left side of the road and the truck suddenly came onto the road making a right turn from a side street and she hit the side of the cab and got impaled on the guard rail. What a mess!  |
