I'm currently back in school to study nursing, so this woman's death is a bit more disturbing to me than usual. I'm twice the age of everyone in my classes... hell, I'm older than the professors. It's fucking weird, but it will be pretty cool to have two bachelor of science degrees in a couple of years. I'm working hard to get into a very competitive nursing school next fall. I need straight A's to be a lock for acceptance. So I can kind of identify a little with this poor lady. I do hope she's found some sort of peace.  |

Don't underestimate the toll of parents demanding high expectation. I was pretty much trained to believe I could, should, and will become a doctor/lawyer/etc (or any stereotype of success) and anything less is a failure of character on my part. Falling short was devastating even when I didn't even want any of those careers. |

Not sure if you're making a joke or not, but no she did not pass. There was a story that circulated on the day that she died that she had not actually failed and was given incorrect information. It was debunked within a few hours, but indeed several news stories ran about the school sending her the wrong scores. But it turned out that the person who discovered the 'error' screwed up. The better scores belonged to a girl with a very similar name...in Khmer script, it was only one partial character difference.  |
