That's some serious equipment in such a poor country.

Re: Cambodian Man Dies in Farming Accident

I bet it WAS a landmine. Looks like there was an explosion on the R/H side of the tractor, that tore everything up, and dismounted the right rear tire. I think the tractor did a backflip, and wound up right side up, and of course, he wound up dead.

Re: Cambodian Man Dies in Farming Accident

Something similar happened to my dad a few years ago. The tractor slid and fell sideways off a steel incline where he’d been spraying. He was pinned underneath the tractor. It took the jaws of life to free him, and his entire right arm had turned purple/black. They said he was within under 3 minutes of losing his arm. They air flighted him to a good trauma center because everyone was certain he had internal bleeding, but nope. He was released from the hospital within a couple of hours. Freaking lucky guy!! But this poor guy, not so much...

Re: Cambodian Man Dies in Farming Accident

The translation did say 'mine explosion' but safe to say that it didn't translate correctly.
I used to live on a farm and the farmer told me had been tipped off the tractor once as it got caught in a deep furrow but the damage was merely a rolled over vehicle.

That damage definitely looks explosive

Re: Cambodian Man Dies in Farming Accident

I understand that in Germany today, several farmers die every year when they run over bombs from WWII. I guess they migrate to the surface for some reason. (The bombs, not the farmers)

Re: Cambodian Man Dies in Farming Accident

Ah ok. But if it was a landmine, surely he wouldn't be in one piece?
It only takes one piece of shrapnel to kill an individual.
