The reason there are so many deaths of westerners in Siem Reap is because it's the main province for tourists. It has the abandoned city of Angkor and the famous Angkor Wat temple. Angkor before the industrial era was one of the largest cities in the world with a million people in population. And the temple of Angkor Wat alone is worth visiting Cambodia. Just don't ride the tuk tuks or take their drugs.
