Cambodia - Frenchman, 25, Breaks His Neck After Crashing into the Bathroom
On January 6, 2015, a Frenchman, 25, named M.B. died in Siem Reap, Cambodia. According to Cambodian news reports, M.B. had been staying with friends at a rental house and was drinking and smoking marijuana that night. While on a steep staircase, M.B. slipped and fell head-first through the ceiling of the bathroom and crashed into the floor. M.B. broke his neck upon impact and died instantly. Authorities discovered the roof of the bathroom was poorly constructed with fiberglass and thick blankets instead of concrete. Travel records showed M.B. entered the country on December 15, 2014 with a tourist visa but had been in the country before. After medical examiners conducted their autopsy, police determined the incident was not a homicide but an accident due to intoxication. Upon completion of the investigation, the body was transferred to the French Embassy. TL;DR: A 25-year-old Frenchman died in Siem Reap, Cambodia when he slipped on a staircase and crashed into the bathroom. The victim broke his neck upon impact.
