Cachanillazo Race Attack: Gunmen Kill 10 at Off-Road Rally, Ensenada, 2023
The fifth edition of the Cachanillazo rally was underway near kilometer 90 of the Transpeninsular Highway in San Vicente, in the municipality of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, on May 20, 2023. At about 2 p.m., rifle-wielding gunmen emerged from a gray pickup and shot at off-road buggy drivers and spectators. Ten people died and nine were wounded, with race participants and bystanders among the victims. Three suspects were detained within days.
