Re: British Backpacker and Canadian Friend Take Bad Pills in Cambodia
Sad because it seems like they were just innocent victims of a fucked-up location. That's why I stay in first world countries.

Re: British Backpacker and Canadian Friend Take Bad Pills in Cambodia
Loperamide is an anti-diarrhea medication that contains an opiod. Instead of blocking the receptors in the brain it blocks the receptors in the stomach. Slowing, if not ceasing, bowel function including the urge to vomit. Opioids and especially morphine were used to treat dysentery throughout history. It locks you up and helps keeping you from shitting your life away. Very common.
