Before Immodium, until around 1986, there was an OTC diarrhea medicine in the USA called Parapectolin. It had paragoric in it (tincture of opium) and would give you a decent buzz in addition to calming your upset bowels. It was OTC but you had to sign in a register book for it the pharmacist kept. Anyway, paragoric was used for diarrhea for hundreds of years.
