Your arguments are valid. I agree. As a person who was in an abusive relationship for a long time ( and I am not a weak person mentally) I learned abusers only get more abusive with the passing of time. And many years of (varying degrees) of abuse will culminate in this scenario. I remember a very vivid time when I was pushed to breaking point and the abuser, a physical training instructor in the marines was actually scared of me (he admitted years later) when I grabbed his throat and said, with my nose in his face “if I had a fucking knife in my hand this second it would be in your throat”. I fully expected his “repayment “ later but much to my surprise he shook me off and turned away. I would have definitely knifed him. But the weapon wasn’t in my hand. The only good abuser is a dead one. |
