Re: Brasil: 22YO Woman Jumped Off Bridge in Water
It has been a few years since I watched the documentary
but as far as I remember, it featured one guy who had jumped from the Golden Gate (which has more clearance below than Newton Navarro) and survived. The odds are against you, but it is not impossible. |

Re: Brasil: 22YO Woman Jumped Off Bridge in Water
I know that it's not uncommon for "jumpers" who've been in the water for some time to to lose limbs from repetitively hitting the rocks or other structures. The water softens up the skin after a while, and the addition of decomposition speeds up the process. However from the looks of it his woman spent no more than 1-2 days in the water, which I doubt is long enough for what I described to happen. It's also common for bridge jumpers to lose limbs or other body parts from getting hit by ships, seeing as the very tall bridges favourite among bridge jumpers are usually built that tall to cross busy shipping lanes. But again I doubt that's the case with this woman, seeing as the rest of her still seems in such good shape, hardly a bump on her from what I can tell, so I agree that the most likely option is that her arm got ripped as she hit the water. Based on the rest of her outfit and even how well her make-up was done, I wouldn't be surprised if she jumped with her handbag still on her shoulder. If during the fall her arm got tangled in the handbag's shoulder strap, it would have easilly torn her arm off as she plumeted through the water; those forces are enormous.
