According to some brazilian websites, this is the story;

The chief of the police station of Montes Altos, Francisco Alves Pereira, with the support of the military police, arrested yesterday Maria das Graças Bezerra, 35 Years old:

the woman is accused of killing his brother, Paulo Bezerra, who was 22 and with whom she had been cohabiting for about one year. The crime was perpetrated by blows with an axe, which was seized and will be send to the court in ten days (as evidence).

The two lived in Rua Antonio Bandeira, neighbor Piqui, city of Sítio Novo do Maranhão.
According to the delegate Francisco Alves Pereira, the motive would have been that her brother, Paul Bezerra, after spending all the day drinking cachaça along with the victim, had threatened to kill her.

The woman was caught in flagrancy of the crime and is now being held at the police station of Sítio Novo do Maranhão. If convicted, Maria das Graças Bezerra can be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison. And there's also the case of incest (she lived maritally with his brother), which is a crime, according to the Brazilian Penal Code.

Not sure it's the true story (someone from Brazil could help), but of course is more likely than the story of some meteorite disguised as an axe, coming from the outer space on purpose to strike him straight in the head.
