The ones with the tonsillitis victim reminds me of a patient I helped care for. 30 something guy had been admitted for severe tonsillitis and the doctors dragged their feet in doing the surgery to remove them. In the OR, patient went into respiratory distress and they couldn't intubate him fast enough. He didn't die, instead became a vegetable with a trach. He was in hospital for months because no nursing home would touch him. Guy had a wife & 2 little ones as well.
