Damn! The blade wasn't really moving fast either
No it's moving very fast. That's an optical illusion.

silly kk kk kk
propellers will often seem slow in videos because of the mismatch between a low frame rate of a camera and the high RPM of a spinning blade.

I used to deice Dash 8s, at DEN: they would feather the engines, and due to the nature of the beasts, one would have to walk up to the spinners on each engine to apply the Type 1 fluid. I can assure you, nothing I've ever done was more frightening!

Re: ~Airport Worker's Head Destroyed By Propeller~

I work around spinning propellers everyday and I always wondered what it would look like if somebody went into one.
now I know

Re: ~Airport Worker's Head Destroyed By Propeller~

It's an optical illusion. The camera is only capturing images at 30 or 60 fps. The blades appeared to be moving much slower in the video than they actually were.

So in this guy's case, he was walking under the wing while it was dark out, loud noise from the engines running, and the blades would've been an imperceptible blur. He literally didn't know what hit him.

Damn! The blade wasn't really moving fast either
