NEWS FLASH! The plague of drug-related violence in Mexico spiked and has remained steady largely because OF OUR US DRUG LAWS.

The goddam US leads the world in illegal drug use, accounting for TWENTY FIVE percent of illegal drug consumerism worldwide, despite only comprising about 5% of the world population. Legalize weed in the US and a quarter of these big, bad drug thugs turn into DIRT FARMERS.

But suuuuuuuuuuurre, build a fucking wall! Maybe it'll keep out a few migrant farmers or some dishwashers so you can live up to your own potential scrubbing pots at Chili's without worrying over Pedro stealing the coveted position you worked so hard to achieve.

You know what it DOESN'T keep out? Fucking illegal dope brought here via plane or tunnel or boat. Nor does it keep out the fucking DRUG CARTEL CRIMINALS WHO USE THE SAME AVENUES OF TRANSIT.

Christ on a cross, you Trumpsters really take the cake. I'm not denying that Mexico has inherent problems with violence and has from the Aztecs to the Spanish fucking the Aztecs and every revolution down the line.

But their murder rate has escalated markedly as a direct result of the United States' utterly futile and Quixotic WAR ON DRUGS. The US's demand for illegal drugs has only risen and risen, while the US law enforcement tries in vain to crack down on a problem that is ONLY a problem because they make it a problem.

You're being willfully obtuse if you choose to blindly disbelieve that this does not correlate with the massive and sharp series of murder spikes in mexico over the last 25 years.

None of which actually does anything about my point that Trump's monument to absurdity, THE HOLY WALL, does absolutely nothing to stop or change any of this. Nothing.

The Adelman Study and The Marshall project both conclusively determined that murder rates in metro areas with quickly-growing immigrant populations over a 46 year period in the US had a murder rate LOWER in many cases and identical in most others than similarly-sized cities with far fewer immigrants, legal or illegal.

The evidence of all studies conducted to the point directly refutes the notion that immigrants commit more or worse murders than non-immigrants in the US.

So basically, mate, even if you are correct in your assertion that mexicans are violent and murderous by their inherent nature, the evidence strongly concludes that moving to the US and living here makes them significantly LESS violent than remaining in Mexico where they are being murdered daily by Cartels and thugs dedicated to supplying the US with drugs that shouldn't be illegal in the first place.

And by the way..the moment you sneak ILLEGALLY in the country you already committed a crime. There is big difference in legal and illegal immigration... don't mix them up. Legal immigration is usually tied to a certain trade or a degree in something..thus such people tend to be a better bunch to hang around..

A misdemeanor, by the way. By the letter of the law it is the exact same level of gravity (and sentencing) as trespassing in a National Park. It carries LESSER penalty than purchasing fireworks in many states. Also a lesser sentence than mailing dentures in the US Post unless you are a licensed dentist. And a FAR lesser crime than mailing a copy of your NCAA bracket to a buddy

Just bear that in mind. Especially if you're going to try to sling some bullshit about how YOU'VE never committed a misdemeanor. Most Americans have, even if only driving recklessly when young, shoplifting a pack of gum, drinking underage, etc. Chances are good that most Mexicans who snuck in here illegally are guilty of NO MORE CRIMES than your white neighbors, your own teenaged children, or even yourself.

Every time I hear this line of horseshit about how they 'deserve' what they get because they 'committed a crime' just by being here, I am inclined to ask whether the complainer in question has ever committed any of the immensely long list of sins that qualify as misdemeanors in this country.

Anyway, far off the point at this juncture and derailing a perfectly good thread so I'm going to stop addressing this subject subsequent to this post.

I brought the issue up only in response to yet another patently ridiculous 'BUILD THE WALL' line from yet another brilliant Trumpster wanting to spend tens of BILLIONS of our tax dollars on a useless campaign slogan that won't do a single goddam thing to reduce crime in this country. Incidentally, that is precisely why so many people are 'hellbent' over it. Between 20 and 70 Billion to build (depending on which report you read) and both reports agreeing that it costs a minimum of 120 Million per year to maintain. Not to mention the monumental assrape it inflicts on the more than 2000 miles of ecosystem down there.

And for what? 'Securing' a border from migrant workers while actual dangerous criminals (ie Cartel smugglers) are just going to use tunnels, water, or air travel to get here.

Mainly I am just sick and fucking tired of seeing that stupid joke of a wall brought up in the damned Death forum and in threads that have nothing whatsoever to do with it, 3-6 times per week.
