When my last cat died ( in my arms ), her body went into Rigor Mortis within about 5 minutes.

I was surprised that it was so fast.

When we die, The Universe immediately starts the process of us going back into Nothingness.


We weren't 'here'.

Then we were 'here'.

Then we were'nt 'here'.

When my mum died in hospital (I was with her), I had to go back about 12 hours later and identify her body. The thing that struck me most was her colour. She was a fluorescent green. I never knew skin could look like that. Great post Sharon.

6. Livor Mortis

We turn quite a few shades of colours but noticeably 50 Shades Of Crimson. Whichever position you end up in upon death, gravity will cause your blood to pool in the areas closest to the ground. If you die face down, your face will turn crimson, if you die on your back then the back of your head, back and legs become bright pink.

If you touch an unembalmed body that's in this state, the discolouration can actually stain you. This is called "post-mortem staining".
Not sure I believe this one. How is it possible, if it's just a build-up of blood inside the skin?
