Daniel Pearl
Journalist for the Wall Street Journal, was killed in Pakistan by extremist Muslims. As a Jew, was perhaps not the wisest thing to allow to be taken voluntarily placed under the care of these people. Kidnappers of Daniel Pearl made a video entitled The Slaughter of the Spy-Journalist, the Jew Daniel Pearl. The video made its way to the Pakistani government and the U.S. government, and he finally fled to the Internet through a jihadist website. It consists of a monologue describing Pearl's Jewish education, the involvement of his family with the creation of the Israeli state, and his feelings about the current controversy. His monologue is presented in the edited sound bites, sometimes he seems relaxed and his speech is natural, but in other areas it is strained and his speech sounded forced. Most of what he says is not very controversial, and in particular it does not pretend to be a spy for the United States or Israel. According to published reports, when the throat of Daniel Pearl has been reduced to a technical error caused it not to be immortalized on film. In the body of the Pearl video is shown naked to the waist, on a blanket arms of a man holding his head forward so that his neck, the cut can not be seen. With the knife in the other hand, the man proceeded to cut more deeply into the throat of Daniel Pearl, from back to front. There is little blood. The man holding the knife is now strongly believed to have been Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the then head of military operations of Al Qaeda. The last 90 seconds of the video consists of a list of demands by scrolling, superimposed on an image of the beheaded Pearl is owned by the hair. Among the list is a request for supply of F-16s paid but never received by the Pakistani government. Three suspects were arrested after the Federal Bureau of Investigation traced e-mails announcing the abduction back in the laptop that was sent. The suspects were members of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a Pakistani terrorist group with ties to al-Qaeda, whose composition is closely linked to both Sheikh Khalid and his nephew Ramzi Yousef. The group is also linked to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the operation of a Jordanian terrorist in Iraq, which has since been beheading his personal mark. The murder was marked by starting a Pearl industry conditions in terrorist snuff film that continues to this day. Removed January 23, 2002, in Karachi, Pakistan. February 21, 2002 Videotape received by the Pakistani government showing Pearl was killed. On the tape: "Yes, I'm Jewish and my father was a Jew. Then her throat was cut. April 22, 2002 trial of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, Salman Saqib and Sheikh Mohammed Adeel begins. Corps May 16, 2002 of Daniel Pearl recovered in Karachi, Pakistan. May 23, 2002, the Federal Bureau of investigation orders ISP to remove the video of Daniel Pearl's servers, citing a law adopted in 1996 to obscenity. Such behavior is an attempt to intimidate indisputable that obscenity is obviously not applicable to such a video. After some bad publicity, the FBI dropped its claim without merit.  · |

While I don't watch the videos and Pearl's video was of such shitty, grainy quality you'd think it was shot by Super8 in 1970, I fully support the hosting of them. Keep things like this alive so people never forget. Then when "torture" pictures from places like Guantanamo Bay show up you can show then the difference between mistreatment in the name of protection and real torture. By the way, does anyone have any Saddam-Era videos out of Iraq? The breaking of limbs, tossing off of buildings blindfolded, and execution by grenade? Those videos? Now that's torture. |

See, the thing is there aren't good guys. Our fight with terrorists is just a richer version of Mexican drug cartels. Fucking mafias up and down the board. Guantanamo is just as bad, just different. we force captives to wear triple layer clothes including masks and helmets for weeks. This has been proven to make a human insane in 24 HOURS. We are doing sick shit.... People defend both sides. We need to change humanity to value peaceful joy above everything. it takes education. We need to be smarter than mind control. |

I believe there's far more to this story than what will ever be told. It's never as simple as Semite vs anti-Semite when money is involved. Pearl came from money. It's doubtful *anyone* would voluntarily 1) enter a hostile Muslim country when one's family is Jewish, and founded towns in Israel, 2) leave behind a pregnant wife in order to enter said hostile country 3) do all of this as an employee of the Wall Street Journal, a publication concerned with business and economy, NOT hard journalism/social commentary. Was it a set-up from the start, with Pearl as a sacrifice to capture high ranking Al Qaeda members? Was it many miscalculations on Pearl's part, sealing his own fate through multiple bad decisions? I can't understand his decision making process. What he did was not courageous or heroic: it was idiotic, short sighted, and suicidal. Wish I could follow the money trail after his death - it would answer every question. |
