For some people, it's the money... They don't have health insurance so they wait until the point where it's either "go to the doctor, or die." That's just my view when everyone is saying "why didn't they go to the doctor sooner?? dumbass.." They probably had a family they needed to support first.. Just sayin'... |

A lot of hospitals have programs for people like that, though. "Community Care" programs and what not. I wonder if people like this patient aren't aware of that, or something...

Yeah, some people aren't aware of them.. But there can be lots of reasons why someone won't go right away. They know it's bad, but they don't want to risk having to pay much. Thank you for pointing out the Community Care programs, however, though.

Well, that all depends on where you're from though. Down here you don't even have to pay a cent to haul your sick arse to hospital. And even if you take yourself to a private practice doctor and have to pay the cosultation fee, you get most of it back straight away anyway - cost you something like 10-15 bucks outta pocket.

Yeah, it does depend where you're from. Where I'm from, it's pretty hard to get health insurance.. It costs so much for everything, so many people won't go to the doctor, even if they are hurting really badly. There are some people who just go around with broken bones until they heal on their own because they don't have enough money to go to the doctor's. There are so many costs and expenses and if you don't have health insurance, you're pretty much fucked if you get hurt. |
