Baby Born Without Eyes & Missed by Ultrasound
When Taylor Garrison gave birth in October, she was astonished that doctors whisked her daughter, Brielle, out of the delivery room without much explanation. Brielle Garrison will need several surgeries after being born with anophthalmia."They took her out of the room, and they wouldn't let us see her," said Garrison, 15, of Wellington, Fla. Finally, after six hours of tests, Garrison got to look briefly at her baby and see what doctors were so concerned about. "She looked like a normal baby, but I could just tell something was wrong," Garrison said. Brielle was born without any eye tissue at all, a condition called anophthalmia that leaves a person irrevocably blind. Garrison also learned this rare diagnosis was one that is almost always missed by ultrasound -- even though hundreds of genetic diseases and deformities once discovered at birth can now be detected with the latest ultrasound technology.  ·  ·  · |

Smh @ 15yr old mother... Kids shouldn't be having kids.  Lol I wonder how the name Brielle is pronounced.. she might has well and gone named the poor kid Braille. :p |

I have a child who is registered blind and my heart goes out to this family. Regardless of moms age no1 deserves to go through this  |

This little one will never have sight, so she'll really never know what she's missing. I think it would be much worse to be born with sight and then lose it to never have it at all. And as long as this baby is healthy and of normal intelligence, and her family takes good care of her, she should have a good life and be able to do all kinds of things.

Poor baby. At least there are a ton of resources for blind kids now, and they can always get her glass eyes to make her look more "normal".
