Feb 8 2011 The road rage incident occurred on the 23rd Ave. Overpass at Calgary Trail and was caught on camera by a passing motorist and shows one man shoving another motorist.
"He had pushed him right to the ground at that point and I started getting out of the vehicle to make sure he was OK," said Mark Franklin.
Franklin said he saw two vehicles stopped on the road and two men appeared to be in an argument over driving. He said it escalated quickly and a younger man pushed an older man to the street.
"I just couldn't believe something would escalate that much," said Franklin.
The man who is shown pushing the elderly man notices he is being filmed and takes his licence plate off the truck before driving away.
"What shocked me was he did it so quickly and it's almost like it was premeditated, ‘Oh I better get that licence plate off so no one can see it,'" said Franklin.
Franklin notified police who told him there was little to be done with no licence plate number and no victim coming forward.
Don Szarko with the Alberta Motor Association says if you are ever in an altercation with another motorist, it's best to stay inside your vehicle.
"We advise you to drive straight to the nearest police station or public area but don't ever get out of your vehicle."
