A woman approached a family on Pekini Avenue in Tbilisi, Georgia, on the evening of August 27, 2019, and drew a knife across the face of their three-year-old son. The attack cut the boy's nose and right cheek. The woman then reached for his younger brother before the parents intervened. The parents said they had never seen her before.

The woman fled, but police traced her movements through surveillance cameras near a pharmacy and detained her by the following morning. The boy underwent surgery at the Zhvania clinic. His condition was described as moderately severe, and he was later discharged. The Ministry of Internal Affairs identified the accused only as T.S., born in 1968. She was charged under Article 117(V) of the Georgian Criminal Code with intentionally causing grave injury to a minor, an offense carrying a prison term of seven to 10 years.
