Wisconsin State Patrol Releases Dash Cam Of Police Chase

The Wisconsin State Patrol and the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department each released dash cam video on Tuesday, May 15th of the multi-county chase that ended in Kenosha back on May 9th.
Milwaukee police say the pursuit began at 9:48 a.m. after a citizen called in the description of the vehicle involved in a burglary near 51st and Good Hope. Officers called off that pursuit at 9:58 a.m. when it was determined the chase could possibly jeopardize public safety.

Moments after the chase was called off, Menomonee Falls police found the van near Woodman's and tried to pull it over. The van took off down Highway 45. Menomonee Falls police pursed the suspects until Watertown Plank Rd. That's when the Wisconsin State Patrol as well as deputies from Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha got involved.
Once in Kenosha County, Dept. of Transportation highway cameras showed the left front tire on the white minivan was deflated.
"He successfully spiked the vehicle. The left front tire slowly deflated, and the driver felt he couldn't get away anymore and he pulled over into the median and stopped," State Patrol Officer Mark Barlar said.

The suspects were taken into custody by the Wisconsin State Patrol. The southbound lanes of I-94 were shut down while the arrests were made. Two sheriff's departments were on the scene as the arrests were made, totaling seven squad cars.
Wisconsin State Patrol Inspector Bradley Ocain was leading the chase on I-94. "With that stressful situation, you tend naturally just to revert back to your training," Ocain said Tuesday, while reviewing the dashcam video.
"The entire time, you're playing through those scenarios in your head. Ultimately, this was the way that you would like every pursuit to end," Ocain said.
Four of the five teens riding in the van are facing criminal charges. The 17-year-old driver faces two felony counts while three others have been charged with misdemeanors for knowingly riding in a stolen vehicle. There is no word yet on why the fifth teen was not charged.
