The madman who allegedly shot two police officers in separate assassination attempts in the Bronx this weekend was hit with attempted murder and other charges for the rampage, police said.

Suspect Robert Williams was formally charged with attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest for the two shootings on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Williams began his rampage on Saturday night, when he allegedly walked up to a marked NYPD van at about 8:30 p.m. at East 163rd and Fox streets in Hunts Point and opened fire, authorities said.

Officer Paul Stroffolino, 31, was hit in the neck and chin in the attack, but miraculously escaped grave injury, police said.

About twelve hours later, Williams allegedly walked into the 41st Precinct station house on Sunday morning and opened fire, wounding a police lieutenant before being taken into custody.

The lieutenant was shot in the arm in the second attack, but is expected to recover.

Williams was taken into custody after being injured during his arrest by police at the precinct. He’s awaiting arraignment Sunday night.

Gal pal of accused Bronx cop shooter says he tricked her into taking him

Accused cop-shooter Robert Williams duped an ex-NYPD gal pal into giving him a ride to the Bronx police precinct where he opened fire and wounded a lieutenant Sunday, the woman told The Post.

“I had no clue he was doing this,” said Liza Valdez, 43. “If I knew, I wouldn’t be next to him at that moment. I don’t know what was going on in his head.”

Hours before the Sunday-morning stationhouse shooting, Williams allegedly opened fire on a Bronx cop on East 163rd Street around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Valdez, a former NYPD probationary communications technician, said she had no idea about the earlier incident when she met up with Williams.

“We went to have breakfast,” she said. “And he tells me to take him to his mother’s. I know she lives over in that direction.”

“And then he got out of the car and he did what he did,” she said.
Once inside the stationhouse police said Williams opened fire with a 9 mm handgun — striking a lieutenant in the arm.

Valdez was questioned at the 41st Precinct stationhouse after Williams was taken into custody around 8 a.m. She was later released without charges.

Sources told The Post that Valdez was Williams’ girlfriend, but the single mother said they are just “longtime friends” who grew up on the same Bronx block.

Cops would not comment on Valdez, saying that the case remains under investigation.

Police say Williams was arrested for attempted murder in 2002 and released on parole in 2017. He is described as 'a career criminal.'
stupid cow can't even pick friends without a rapsheet.
Too bad they didn't pop a mag in his head to save $ for a trial and a prison stay.

Correct me if I’m wrong on this, please. And I hear this a lot “They should’ve of killed him” or “They should execute him” But wouldn’t it be better to keep them in a cage 24 hours for the rest of their lives? Isn’t that the ultimate punishment. To be both alive and nonexistent at the same time?

I respect that some pay more taxes than others. But to be honest, I don’t mind paying to keep criminals trapped in jail. Doesn’t bother me one bit. Even if it means I’ll never be rich. I’d rather live a decent live, than be rich and have our streets flooded with this garbage. That’s just me

What a crazy fucktard, I'm very surprised they didn't kill him.

It would've been a justified kill.

Yeah but what’s the fun in that. Like I said, incarceration has to be the biggest fear. They should lock them up, and never let them have any contact with the outside world, not even 1 letter from the alphabet. No books, no tv, just 4 white walls for the rest of their lives and no way to get out of it.
