TAMPA, Fla.–A Florida deputy who was videotaped dumping a paralyzed man out of his wheelchair onto a Tampa jailhouse floor has turned herself in.

Jail records show Charlette Marshall-Jones was booked into the Orient Road Jail early Saturday morning. It is the same jail where Marshall-Jones worked.

She is accused of tipping 32-year-old Brian Sterner out of his wheelchair. A videotape of the incident has been widely circulated.

The Hillsborough County deputy was charged with one count of felony abuse of a disabled person and released after posting $3,500 bail.

A former Hillsborough County detention deputy will not face prosecution for dumping a disabled man from his wheelchair at the Hillsborough County Jail.

Charlette Marshall-Jones, 44, has agreed to enter a pretrial intervention program and will not face jail time for her dumping quadriplegic Brian Sterner out of his wheelchair onto the floor.

The incident was caught on tape in the booking area of the jail and made national headlines. The incident prompted Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee put together an independent review commission to examine practices and procedures at county jail facilities.

The Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office reportedly offered Marshall-Jones the deal at the urging of quadriplegic Brian Sterner, who reportedly told prosecutors he wanted an end to the case.

The pretrial intervention requires Marshall-Jones to perform 100 hours of community service with the disabled and she will not be able to work again in law enforcement.

I would have to say bundles of contraband he was concealing under his ass because he thought the deputy wouldn't make him get out of his chair, well that's what the idiot thought anyway. What an idiot for even thinking that considering it's been tried before!

According to fox news, Florida Deputy Charlotte Marshall Jones was caught on video tape "dumping" a quadriplegic man from his wheelchair onto the floor. To make matters worse,
three supervisors looked on and did nothing to rescue Brian Sterner age 32 from this abuse.

Brian Sterner reportedly incurred injuries to his spine from a wrestling accident when he was 18 years old. The injury left him a quadriplegic and wheelchair bound. He has no feeling from his breastbone down. Sterner, who can drive, said that Deputy Jones did not believe that he was a quadriplegic.

The tape clearly shows Deputy Jones lifting the handles of the wheelchair and Brian Sterner tumbling out face first onto the station floor. He said that he hit the floor so hard he feared that he broke ribs. Sterner reported that deputies then frisked him and tried to get him back into his chair again.

Brian Sterner was allegedly arrested on charges of fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement officers from an incident on October 25th. Sterner was also thought to be sited for blocking an intersection.The specifics of these charges are not yet clear.

Deputy Charlotte Marshall Jones has been with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office since 1986. Deputy Jones has been suspended without pay for the abuse of the quadriplegic man. She has not been terminated.

Corporal Decondra Williams, Corporal Steven Dickie and Sergeant Gary Hinson were all present at the time of the abusive incident. They did not file a report or tell anyone what they had witnessed. All three are suspended with pay.

After viewing the abuse on tape, Chief Deputy Jose Docobo said that he was astonished and greatly appalled at what he saw. He said that the acts were indefensible.

Chief Deputy Docobo said they would try to make it right with Sterner, and that all he could do right now was offer his sincere apologies.

No one has said what prompted three other members of the force to let the abuse go unreported. Not to mention why said members did not offer to help the quadriplegic man.
