Notice they train the K9 officer to always go for the right arm and hand, going with the law of averages that most people are not southpaws? It's hard for a violent perp to fight back when his business arm is now a chew toy for a powerful german shepard (who can literally chew a hand or a foot off). I saw a recent video where the cop couldn't get his K9 to let go of the perpetrator's arm which was kind of funny, but also kind of disturbing.

Why should cops take stupid chances like that? Assuming they don't shoot the bastard on sight because he's got a weapon and is threatening with it, 9 times out of 10 in this situation they call for backup with a perp as violent as this. I have to disagree with the young men commentating and observing in the video and saying, "Why don't he bring backup?" He did bring backup. And such wonderful backup it was |
