the Madison County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a deer hunter in the Antioch road area who reported finding an abandoned pickup truck that is believed to be the vehicle used in the theft of an ATM at Regions Bank in Three Way that occurred on Sunday morning.
The investigation revealed that the 1994 two-tone red and white Chevy Silverado pickup truck, with retired Army tag No. 5023M, found in a wooded area with an ATM in the bed, was reported stolen to the Jackson Police Department over the weekend. The bottom of the ATM had been sawed open and an undisclosed amount of money was taken, according to a news release.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the theft about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
The investigation revealed that the thief or thieves used a forklift that was stolen from the construction site at McDonald’s in Medina. The forklift was used to remove and load the ATM into the two-toned pick-up truck.
The investigation is continuing.
