SUV Flips in Rochester Police Pursuit, Two Arrested With Guns, June 15, 2022
Rochester police and New York State Police tried to stop a black SUV near North Goodman Street and Central Park Avenue at about 4:23 p.m. on June 15, 2022. The driver did not stop, and state troopers pursued the vehicle. The SUV struck a curb near Bay and Goodman streets, flipped twice and came to rest against a tree in a front garden. Driver Javar Marshall, 21, and passenger Nasir Schifano, 19, kicked out the windscreen and climbed through it before they were taken into custody. Police reported recovering a rifle loaded with 30 rounds and a pistol loaded with eight rounds. Each man was charged with two felony counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The outcome of the cases is not on the public record. Marshall and Schifano suffered minor injuries and were taken to separate hospitals. No one else was hurt. The crash and the men's escape from the SUV were recorded by a resident's doorbell camera.

Two city men are facing charges after police say they fled a traffic stop and hit a curb on Thursday. Rochester Police say they and New York State Police tried to stop a vehicle near North Goodman Street and Central Park Avenue around 4:30 p.m. The driver didn't stop, and troopers pursued the vehicle. It struck a curb and flipped near Bay Street and Goodman. The driver and passenger were taken into custody. The driver was taken to Rochester General Hospital with minor injuries. The passenger was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Police say they recovered a rifle loaded with 30 rounds and a pistol loaded with eight rounds. Javar Marshall, 21, and Nasir Schifano, 19, have been charged with felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. |
