Re: Suspect Demetri Thomas Opens Fire on Huston Police, Aug. 14, 2026
Officers located 3 victims suffering from gunshot wounds from the suspect discharging his firearm at their vehicles. Two victims were transported to an area hospital. All victims are in stable condition. Records indicate that Thomas was convicted in 2012 for aggravated assault and kidnapping. During his September 2026 bond hearing, the prosecution successfully cited his violent criminal history alongside the severity of the August 14 shooting to argue against his release. His defense attorney countered by stating he was experiencing a severe mental health episode during the incident. The judge ultimately sided with the state and denied him bond |
