I understand the cops beating the shit out of him, even though unconscious. However, them getting fired is what they deserved because there's just no need to strike someone who isn't resisting.

see... Chief A.C. Roper fires five officers and called in the Alabama Bureau of Investigation for possible criminal charges against the officers. Roper also stated there will be disciplinary action against supervisors who failed to report the incident to higher ups. they kinda didn't |

Maybe not, but tell that to them after a colleague has been run down, they've been chasing this loser for half an hour and they are pissed off as hell.
