Staffordshire Bull Terrier Attacks Woman Protecting Her Dog

Video shows a Staffordshire Bull Terrier latch on to a woman's arm as she tries to protect her dog from being attacked.

The CCTV footage shows the attacking dog hurtle towards the woman as she walks her own dog, which looks like a similar breed.

Terrified Sue Ghizdeanu had to undergo an emergency operation, needed five stitches to her hand, and will require further hospital check-ups after she was bitten by the dog, which was off its lead on Tuesday in Goole, near York.

nitially the Bull Terrier is locked in a battle with Sue's dog Tyson, but turns its attention to her as she tries to separate the warring dogs.

Sues struggles with the two dogs before a man runs up, ripping the dogs from one another's grasp.

Recalling the attack, which happened in Goole, Sue said: 'We got to near the Chinese takeaway and the dog just came charging up to me.'

She added that when she tried to stop the dogs fighting, she ended up with her hand in the Bull Terrier's mouth.

It is the attacking dog's owner who can then be seen running up to Miss Ghizdeanu to control the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

He managed to split the dogs up,' the 52-year-old said.

'He then got his partner to get a bowl of water to wash his dog's face as there was a lot of blood from my hand.

'He didn't apologise, though. I was disgusted.'

An ambulance was called to the scene and Miss Ghizdeanu was taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital, before being transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary for her operation. The 52-year-old had to stay overnight.

Miss Ghizdeanu says she still hasn't heard anything from the dog's owner.

'To be honest, if that was me and it was my dog that had bitten someone, I would have had it put down,' she said.

A neighbour who witnessed the attack has since reported it to Humberside Police.

Miss Ghizdeanu says the attack has left her feeling wary and afraid.

She said: 'I won't be changing the route I walk Tyson, but I am really wary now when I go out.'

Mr Beal added: 'I have been checking all the alleyways to make sure it is okay for her to walk Tyson.'

Pit bulls and idiotic, irresponsible owners again, the two seem to go hand in hand.

Should sentence the pitbull owner to be tied to a stake sitting on the ground with his feet straight out in front of him.

And thence mauled for a 30 minute time period.

According to pitbull fanatics, it has never, ever, ever been the fact the dog is a naturally aggressive breed. It is 100% of the time, since the first genetic mutation that gave birth to the breed, the owners fault.

Pitbulls were bred to be fighting dogs, specific traits such as a powerful bite, vicious temperament and mindless tenacity were considered preferable attributes in the breeding process.
Over time the inevitable inbreeding and widespread rise of 'status dogs' for gang members, ne'er do wells and other such assorted human garbage, has led to a huge number of hyper aggressive and utterly unpredictable dogs.
There are always a select few who claim their beloved pooch wouldn't hurt a fly, let's face facts though, they are essentially ticking time bombs. The old excuse of 'but he/she has never bitten before' is cold comfort to the families of the children who are mauled to death by these creatures on a daily basis.

Re: Staffordshire Bull Terrier Attacks Woman Protecting Her Dog

I was attacked by a pit bull in my parents' backyard when I was 9. The only reason I got away is that I had a Basset Hound that ran full-speed - perhaps the only time it ever did so in its 14 years - and clamped down on the pit bull's leg, and literally held on for dear life. I ran headlong toward the house, screaming all the way, and when I was about halfway there I heard a thud and then a sharp crack, and looked up to see my dad prone against the railing of our deck with a 7mm rem mag.

I realized several things at that moment. First, the pit bull had shaken free of my dog and was about 10 feet behind me when my dad shot it. Second, I could see my left ear in my peripheral vision, because it was torn about 90% of the way off. Third, my dad had just shot a running pitbull at 50 yards with me in the way, the crazy fuck. Fourth, the thud I heard was the sound of a bullet hitting the dog before the sound of the shot reached me. Fifth, 7mm mag is a powerful cartridge, as the dog was nearly cut in half. And sixth, my dog was still alive but missing most of his tail.

It also occurred to me as I took stock of the situation that my dad had somehow managed to retrieve a rifle from his safe, load it, set up, and fire in 90 seconds, at most. I would ask him years later how he managed to pull that off, but he just shrugged his shoulders and said, "I was comfortable with that gun."

While my dad was driving me to the hospital to get my ear reattached, he said, "Maybe, uh, maybe don't tell mom that I shot over you. There's been enough blood spilled today."

Re: Staffordshire Bull Terrier Attacks Woman Protecting Her Dog

First off, read the title. It's a 'Staffordshire Bull Terrier' not technically a Pitbull. yes this breed is only bred with some Pits, but you people are so biased against 'Pitbulls' that you immediately start pointing fingers, so before you leave stupid comments get your facts straight.

In the 80's it was German shepards.
In the 90's it was the Rottweilers.
Now in the millennium it's Pitbulls.
"oh they're are so vicious"

The fact is the only dog attacks they put on the news are ones from pitbulls, not of any other dog breed.

Go to a veterinarian and 80% of the time they tell you they are more scared of working with smaller dogs than pitbulls. They deal with animals everyday, take their advice.

You make a valid point sir, I certainly should have worded my post more carefully.

In the UK, statistically, what is legally categorized as a 'pit bull type' (this includes Staffies, English bull terriers and American pit bulls, the latter incidentally are a banned breed here) are responsible for the majority of fatal, invariably unprovoked attacks on humans and other dogs.

Current UK legislation (Dangerous dogs act 1998) specifies several breeds including the aforementioned 'pit bull type' and details (no where near harsh enough) penalties for being the owner of a dog that attacks someone.
Owning a 'pit bull type' in the UK and going out in public with it not on a lead and muzzled is a criminal offence (currently punishable by up to 2 years imprisonment and or a £5000 fine), I have seen a great deal of first hand evidence why this is a sensible law.

Yes they can be sweet natured, loyal and seemingly gentle, but they have a genetic predilection and physical capacity to do horrific damage at a moment's notice and for no apparent reason other than feeling the need.
