Spiderman Style Break In

A burglar conducted a Spiderman-style break-in at a supermarket by cutting a hole in the roof and abseiling down a rope into the store - stealing £10,000 of produce.

The thief took inspiration from the famous comic character, but instead of fighting crime, he used the idea to aid his own.

But he made one big mistake and failed to locate the shop's CCTV - which caught the entire burglary on camera.
The footage shows the burglar cutting his way through a metal and asphalt roof before abseiling down a rope into the store.

He then fills up several canvas bags with cigarettes before climbing back up his rope with the stolen goods - and then slides back down again to steal more.
The thief managed to escape with a haul of cigarettes and alcohol worth more than £10,000 from the Supersaver store in Litherland, near Liverpool, on Tuesday.

But owners of the store say the damage caused to the shutters and premises will cost more than £20,000 to repair.

Store owner Matt Mahalingham, 31, said: 'I've never seen anything like it. When I looked at the CCTV footage I couldn’t believe it.

'The police are looking into this bad-Spiderman character. But he must have been well-prepared in advance.

'He would have needed some powerful tools to get through the roof and the mask he was wearing looked like it was from a horror film.

'A lot of damage was caused to the shop but we are the only one on the estate so I don't wnt to close while repairs are being carried out.

'Residents still need to be able to buy essentials and things on their way to work.'

Mr Mahalingham added that the shop has been targeted several times in the past and one employee needed hospital treatment after a savage attack.

He said: 'We have had some problems with kids shouting abuse at us and our staff and a brick has been thrown through the window.

'One of the shop workers was punched in the face and bitten on the arm and had to be taken to hospital.'

Crime scene investigators were today analysing the footage in a bid to track down the burglar. It is believed he has acrried out other burglaries in the area.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: 'We are investigating an incident where a man broke into a supermarket in Litherland in the early hours of Tuesday.

CCTV images show how a suspected shoplifter bit and punched a mini-market worker after she was locked in his store.

The young woman was filmed sinking her teeth into the 49-year-old man’s arm before throwing a series of punches at him.

The struggle became increasingly violent until the woman managed to force the door open and run out of Supersaver, in Litherland.

The July 27 incident – which police are treating as racially motivated – came just a few weeks after the staff member was headbutted by a thug in his shop doorway.
Crazy town.
