San Diego Officers Tase Cane-Wielding Man

On July 7, 2022, Southeastern Division officers responded to South Meadowbrook Drive after a caller reported a neighbor had come into her apartment and said a man was being hit with a stick or cane.

Officers found a man walking through the apartment complex swinging a cane. They told him several times to drop it and said they had a call that he had hit someone with it. After he dropped the cane, officers moved to detain him.

During the detention, officers yelled that he had a knife, and a Taser was deployed. The man got up, fought again, and ran northbound toward Meadowbrook and Brookhaven.

Officers chased him, located him near the intersection of Brookhaven and South Meadowbrook, and ordered him to stop reaching and get on the ground. A Taser was used again, and officers took him to the ground and handcuffed him.
