San Diego Officers Pursue Armed Driver After Gun Call
On April 14, 2025, in the Central Division area, a 911 caller reported an erratic man outside a vehicle carrying an empty tire with what appeared to be a rifle inside it. The caller then reported that the gun was out, that the man fired one shot into the ground, argued with a bicyclist, kicked the bicycle, and pointed the weapon. Officers pursued an older white Ford F-150 with a white camper shell. During the pursuit, the truck drifted across lanes, used the shoulder, and reached about 80 mph while traveling on I-5 near Palomar Street and State Route 94. The truck turned sideways on the freeway during a modified hot stop. The driver reversed toward officers, then continued northbound on I-5, exited toward B Street, went east on E Street, and south on 26th Street. On 26th Street, the truck collided with a patrol unit and crashed into a residence on 26th Street. Officers moved up with a dog and ordered the driver not to move and to put his hands out the window. The clip ends with officers calling for CPR.
