San Antonio Officers Shoot Armed Man After Seven Officers Are Injured
Just before 8 p.m. on January 22, 2025, San Antonio North Patrol officers were sent to an apartment in the 18700 block of Stone Oak Parkway for a suicide-in-progress call. The male caller said he was suicidal, had firearms, and threatened to harm any officer who approached him. While officers were coordinating their response in a nearby parking lot, a shooting-in-progress call came out at the same location. Officers went to the scene. As they approached the breezeway to the apartment, the suspect appeared and opened fire, striking an officer. Another officer took the injured officer to a nearby hospital in a marked patrol vehicle. The suspect hid behind a truck, appearing to prepare for an ambush of other responding officers, then ran back into the apartment. Inside, he began shooting out of a window toward officers, striking additional officers. Injured officers were extracted and taken to a local hospital in stable condition, and some were treated at the scene. The suspect stayed inside the apartment and continued firing at officers. After several hours of negotiation and other unsuccessful techniques, SWAT officers fired shots and struck him. The suspect, 46-year-old Brandon Poulos, died at the scene from his wounds. Seven officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The District Attorney's Office is reviewing the incident.
