Robbery Attempt in Texas Ends in Total Chaos

On Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at 3:44 a.m., the White Settlement Police Department responded to an initial call that someone had broken a window at a local convenience store in the 2000 block of S. Cherry Lane.

As officers were responding, additional information was received that it appeared someone was trying to steal an ATM machine that was located in the rear of the store.

As officers arrived, they saw extensive damage to the front doors and windows of the store with debris, shelving, and merchandise scattered throughout the store and into the parking lot.

Within two minutes of arriving at the store, the suspects had already fled the scene with the ATM in tow via a metal cable.

It was later determined that the black SUV had been stolen in Dallas. The investigation revealed that two men drove to the store parking lot in the stolen SUV and exited the vehicle wearing dark colored clothing, had their faces covered and wore gloves.

One man immediately smashed the front door with a metal object and then pulled a metal cable inside that was attached to the SUV.

The man hooked the cable to the ATM and signaled to the driver to pull the ATM out of the store. It took two attempts to get the ATM fully out of the store.

As the suspects fled westbound on the I.H. 30 service road, the ATM became dislodged and ended up in a culvert near an auto dealership. Officers were able to recover the ATM, which included the safe.

As officers began coordinating with the Fort Worth Police Department Real-Time Crime Intelligence Center, the WEST COMM Dispatch Center began searching the department’s license plate readers and other cameras throughout the city to try and locate the fleeing suspects.

Officers determined the vehicle fled to the 2700 block of Shenandoah in Fort Worth, about a half mile away from the initial crime scene.

The vehicle was abandoned and confirmed stolen out of Dallas. The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office processed the vehicle for forensic examination.

The department was made aware by the owner that other similar offenses have been committed throughout the DFW area at stores that he is associated with. Our detectives are working closely with crime analysts and other agencies to share intelligence.

The store clerk and witness was not injured. The case remains under investigation.

Damn. He pulled that cable all the way underneath the tires of that van next to the pump. That was almost like a magic trick.
