Robbers Using High-caliber Assault Rifles Shooting at CIT and Casino Guards
South Africa, Store owners and police are puzzled by online footage which recently surfaced. Reports suggest that the store is located in Empangeni, however police have denied that the incident ever took place. A gang of men using high-caliber assault rifles can be seen shooting at CIT guards before making off with cash boxes during what is thought to be a CIT drop off. Official story: CASH-IN-TRANSIT (CIT) company personnel and casino staff were robbed while processing cash for an ATM at the Umfolozi Casino Resort in Empangeni, South Africa. The heist took place at approximately 8:30am. Initial reports indicate that one suspect waited in a black BMW 3 Series outside the parking lot from around 7am, while three suspects waited inside the casino’s parking area. Casino staff were reportedly in the process of filling an FNB ATM from eight canisters holding approximately R250 000. The three suspects stormed in, holding one staff member hostage. They grabbed the canisters and fled through the pedestrian gate where the BMW waited. The robbers fled the scene, but reports suggested they had one flat tyre that was ‘smoking a lot’. The number plate of the vehicle was found to be false, belonging to a Ford Icon. Casino management declined to comment at the time. Probably witheld the shooting part for the media so people would not stop coming at the casino imo. |

By definition an "assault rifle" is an intermediate weapon which fires an intermediate cartridge smaller than a standard rifle round, there is no such thing as a "high caliber" assault rifle if it were "high caliber" then it wouldn't be an assault rifle. The weapon the robber is carrying is an AK/AKM which fires the relatively small 7.62X39 round and is a true assault rifle. I can't make out the rifle's origin from the grainy video but it appears it was a fixed stock rifle which the robbers modified by removing the butt stock and replacing it with a sling mount to make it easier to conceal under a coat. It is very difficult to fire an AK with any accuracy without a stock on it and that may have played a role in the guards escaping, assuming of course that the robbers were even trying to hit them. |
