Eric Carmen, former Raspberries lead vocalist, was arrested Sept. 9 for allegedly driving his Land Rover while drunk.
It was Carmen's second arrest for operating a vehicle under the influence. The first came last year in Gates Mills, where he lives.
Carmen, 59, allegedly ran over a fire hydrant. No other cars were involved in the accident. He wasn't injured.
Police said they found an open bottle of vodka in Carmen's vehicle.
Carmen has pleaded not guilty in Bedford Municipal Court. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Nov. 24.
Someone called police about the accident at 7:03 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Carmen's Land Rover on a tree lawn with Carmen still inside.
The Land Rover's passenger front end was badly damaged. Behind the vehicle was a 100-foot-long trail of debris. A fire hydrant was on its side.
When police asked Carmen what happened, he said he didn't know. He appeared confused and officers smelled alcohol coming from the Land Rover.
Police asked Carmen if he had been drinking. He smiled and nodded yes.
Officers asked Carmen to step out of the Land Rover. He swayed and almost fell. He used his vehicle to maintain his balance.
He almost fell during field sobriety tests. He refused to do the walk-and-turn test.
Carmen was released to his attorney on bond.
